Pickups maintaince

My pickups are starting to rust :( need some serious tips here.

My good friend was having that problem so i started to just get a clean rag and wipe off the sweat after each time i played and i havent seen no rust yet

Hmmm sweat I thought about that too, but I dont seem to sweat so much when I play. Well I can understand strings getting rusty because of sweat, but I don't think sweat getting down to the pickups (well ..yet). I was thinking the environment I'm in, has lost of moisture in the air?? (Dont' know if that makes any sense but). Do any of those guitar cleaners work on pickups too???

Cheaper factory pickups seem to rust way more than higher-end factory pickups and aftermarket pickups, in my experience. The stock p/u on my Epi SG was starting to rust after about 13 months, so I stripped it out and put in a Duncan. That was 2 years ago, no rust. None of my other guitars have the issue.

I heard someone here say that putting clear nail laquer would solve the issue, but I've never tried.
