Guitar to amp to cpu

If I were to plug my guitar into my amp, then use the "power amp out" input into my cpu, will it work? Damage anything?

Sorry I meant to say "preamp out".I also have an external speaker jack and power amp in. Will any of these work when going to the cpu?

Ya, I am using a tube amp. What I ended up doing today was, first get a different software for recoring. Then I just set up a mic in front of my amp and recorded this way. I am not using very good speakers on my computer so there is a bit of hiss, but not much.
