Was Jimmy Page always in "The Black Crows" or was he just a guest, or did he join later? Or did he start the band.

It was a short lived stint...Jimmy toured with them in 2000

By Your Side, produced by former Aerosmith collaborator Kevin Shirley, hit record stores in January 1999. Later the same year, the Black Crowes teamed up with former Led Zepplin guitarist Jimmy Page for a series of concerts in the U.K. and the U.S. In 2000, Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes Live at the Greek, an album consisting mainly of Zepplin standards, ruffled some feathers in the retail world because of its exclusive online distribution through Musicmaker.com. Oddly enough I was just thinkin of the Crowes myself yesterday n was gunna post somethin but I forgot so I might as well add it to the this thread. What are peoples thoughts on the band and the guitarist Chris (I think, Rich is the singer?) Robinson. My personal views are that I really like the bands older stuff, don't really like the new comes across as a bit pyschedelic. But I don't class Chris as a great guitar player, he's good don't get me wrong just not great.

So the live album was the only thing with Jimmy Page?
That would make sense because I downloaded a few songs by them [black crows] and the guitar sounded to "easy" I guess you could say. It didn't sound Jimmy Page-ish.

Yeah, I think that was all they did with Jimmy Page...perhaps a little touring too...I really dig the "Shake your money maker" album...decent guitar with a lot of soul...good vocals.

Thanks, I'll check to see if I know anyone with the live album.

Rich is the guitarist, Chris is the singer. Rich is a really good guitarist, check out his slide work on 'Descending'

I was talking with a teacher today who is really into axe playing and music. He is going to lend my the "Live At The Greek" album. I noticed before they use slides, very interesting as I am getting the hang of it now. The songs sound like Open G and Open E tunings.(I.E She Talks To Angels)

Yeah She Talks To Angles is both amazing, and in open-E tuning ;)

Jimmy went on tour with them to do a tribute thing to Led Zepplin. Thats about it. Whats up with Jimmy working with Puff Daddy on the Godzilla soundtrack? I used to actually like that song and I thought about it today.
