well its odd being the new guy and all , id just like to say hi to everyone . i am so glad ive stumbled onto this place and im happy ive been allowed the privalage to post and be a member of this wonderful site. and now heres my question. i practice everyday but i feel that my practices are quite short. the usually range from 30 mins to an hour. in that time i go through my warm up and get to work writing and experimenting. but i see that alot of people practice for hours on end. should i stick with what im comfortable with or make my practices more lengthy?

I practice technical aspects of playing 30 minutes before I go to sleep every night. I play chromatics, scales, chords, sweeping, etc. The songwriting portion of playing I only do when I feel inspiration hits. This may be for 5 hours one day, or for two minutes another. Sometimes not at all.

30 minutes a day is good for people like me that are in high school, play sports, and have a job. Consistency is what counts.

I think it's not so much a question of how much you practice, but rather how well you practice.Of course practicing for three seconds a day,no matter how high quality the practice is won't help, but still it's quality over quantity.
Btw,wellcome.
