Hi, I have a Marshall AVT100 watt amp, hybrid.
But my dream amp has always been either a Silver Jubilee or JCM stack. I could get a JCM900 head off ebay for around £250. Do you guys think its a good decision. I read Marshall shocked themselves with how good the AVT range is, so is it possible my AVT is better? Just how much better are all valve amps?
I heard that the AVT is better , but I haven't got a chance to try'em yet... And your model AVT100 should be big enough I think.
Anyway my advice is don't spend money on anything before you try it.

i would personally stick with the AVT if i were you. the JCM900 would be really cool though. but i guess it's a preference of your desired sound and you willingness to spend that money.

The AVT and JCM are totally different amps, so it all depends on what you need. I'd say 250 pounds is a pretty good deal though.(if the amp is working properly) With the JCM you end up with less features than the AVT, but an all-tube amp. You decide what's best for you.
Oh, and of course Marshall says their AVT series is great, how else would they sell that stuff? I wouldn't go near those amps myself, no matter how good they claim they are.
ps: all-tube amps aren't better by definition, but many people prefer them because they have a nicer/warmer sound.(I'm one of those people)

I had a Marshall VS65R and it was ...Hummm...very bad !
I do know two people who have had JCM900 and both loved them. One of those people used one (or 2 JCMs) as their principle amp(s) during a couple of world tours, so yes they can take plenty of punishment !
I totally go with try before you buy !

If your dream-amp costs only 250£, buy it!
Thats not much money, when considering your wildest
amp-dreams will come true.

Dude, chill! Please re-read my post. I never said anything was wrong with Marshalls, nor did I slag them.

Nope, don't like them. Don't like any Marshall amp for that matter.
