Tele vs. Strat

Could someone please fill me in on what the difference betweet a tele and a strat is? i've played guitar for a while now and am thinking about buying a new electric. i was going to get a tele, but then i realized i know notin' about them. someone fill me in. thanks

They are quite different guitars in look and sound... They're both great, but I'd recomend a strat bec it's more popular.
