At the present moment in time I am on the verge of buying a multi FX unit and have been monitoring posts on GT gear forum. Bearing in mind I don't want to spend much more than £200+ I have taken three points in:
A)Korg's AX1500G processor
B)Digitech's RP series
C)Buying seperate, quality pedals(Expensive option?)

I mainly play a Fender Tele through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe valve amp and am playing rock/blues/rock 'n roll music. My question to my fellow guitar twangers is would it be worth buying an FX unit(with a lot of heavy sounds I may not use) and would it defeat the point of owning a £500 quality valve amp?

Any advice would be much appreciated as I want to hit the January sales:)

Cheers!
Luke

Good multi-effect units are the replacement of single effects, but not a good amp.

I would look into some effects units, without a built in pre-amp.

There are some low-priced Lexicon processors out there like the MPX-110 and MPX-200. They have better quality effects than any multiFX-pedal, and maybe even single effect boxes. And they don't have a pre-amp, which you shouldn't need with that amp of yours'.

Also, you might want to check out the Behringer Virtualizer. Which is even more flexible than the Lexicon stuff, and probably cheaper too.

I'm still learning how to use my Yamaha DG Stomp, but so far, I think its a keeper! There a lot of sounds in that box, plus amp simulation for running DI.
