Alright, i have $400 to $500 bucks, and have narrowed it down to the Boss GT-6 and the Digitech GeNetX-3. Choosing between these two absolutely sucks! i know that i'll get a good multi-effects processor if i choose either, but right now i'm leaning towards the GT-6 (still)...i can't find the boss' website though!
anyways, anybody have either of these two?

I have the GNX-2 and it is OK. I am using it directly into a Korg D1600. Overall it sounds nice. As far as I know the GNX-2 is very similar to the GNX-3 minus the recording doohicky. Be careful to check the amount of recording time you get very carefully as with out a smart card it works out to about 30 seconds for each of the 8 tracks. I think the advertising blurb can be misleading.

or you can go to http://www.rolandus.com and you'll find link to boss there.
And you won't find anything special in these 2 sites anyway, I believe http://www.musiciansfriend.com has more info on these products.
I recomend that you try both before you buy if you could. Also don't be so amazed by effects like auto-yaya, auto-riff and other useless stuff you'll find in the GT-6 or GNX-3.
For me I'd compare between the overall sound quality of the effects you know you'll use like the distortion types, the wah-pedal (although I know all multi-effects sux with the wah), delay & reverb ,chorus , compression & the Noise Gate.

Check out the DG Stomp. I find its a bit easier to play around with the settings. (You just turn the knobs!) And the sound is excellent! You can use it as a modeller for DI recording, or use it as a multi-FX preamp.

see, i heard some boss gt-6 sounds, and they sound much better than the GNX-3 sounds...for example, i dont know if you download this or what, but they had a guitar playing a flute (which i've ALWAYS wanted to do!), etc...but then again, i've heard how hard it is to get a good sound out of both of them :(. I'll prolly stick with my guts and go with the Boss GT-6.

aaaaah! Now i'm in a fix! I heard some GNX3 sounds that totally blew me away, which puts me in even more of a dillema (especially since christmas is coming!). And the fact that you can download samples from the internet onto your GNX3 also totally blows me away. I don't know if this option is possible with the Boss GT-6...:( . Sheesh! I'm probably just going to play the GNX3 at my local music store sometime this week, make my decision based off of that. wow, happy gearhunting!

At the risk of looking foolish, you may want to take a pair of headphones with you (or ask the store attendant for some). These can be plugged straight into the GNX3 which means you get to hear what the board really sounds like with out any coloration from amps.....just a thought !
You may also be able to get which ever unit you decide on for a couple of bucks cheaper by quoting one or two "online" prices at the sales guy, may be worth a try. Worked for a friend of mine here in Iowa !

I'll make sure to do that! it's insane the amount of stress that goes into gear-hunting, and considering the options, you could spend a lifetime with. Hopefully I'll find my awesome gear soon.

I own a GT-6, and they are amazing, easy to programme and built like a rock, and they sound great, what more could you want

A friend of mine just bought a GT-6 yesterday, and it sounds great... alot of usefull and useless effects on it. compared to the GT3 (in the store they had both and we compared) it is not such a huge difference in sound. However - i personally stick to rackmount stuff with external pedalboards - those units are realy expensive, but they are worth it.

Good idea...I worked in a guitar store for about a year and everything is marked up closed to 100%...i.e. if the store gets it for 500, they'll sell it for close to 1000...so they should have room to come down...
