So...as a 'chick' (I'm talkin to Guitar_Chick btw...not to you... ya weirdo :) Do you ever have hassles with guys getting the wrong impression when you just want to jam?
I'm thinking back to several instances where I've liked a girls playing or singing, made arrangements to get together and all kinds of wrong signals get sent out. Like, she either thinks you're interested in her when you're not, or she freaks out over something simple you said cause she thinks you're just trying to make a move on her. (I jokingly called a girl 'my concubine' once online before we even met and she freaked on me thinking I was coming on to her. I haven't asked another girl since then cause I just can't stand the anxiety and tension of always second guessing everything I'm saying)

There have got to be some others.... Maybe they don't post much.... I've got some friends (girls) that are just starting to play but It doesnt seem to be going anywhere so far. It seems like everyone I know at least owns a guitar. But you have to look pretty hard to find someone who actually commits themselves to the instrument instead of just having one to look cool. I don't know any girls that seriously play. http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/frown.gif

Hi guitar_chick,
I'm not female, but I'm curious as to what type of music you play? Who are your influences? Do you play electric and/or acoustic?
I'm glad that you're here. It's cool to have a chick around. It gets boring with nothing but guys around here.

Hey guys, a great way to get girls: give them free guitar lessons and impress 'em. Almost worked for me with this one girl... only she hates me now. That's a story for another day though.

BarryS: I play an electric guitar and am learning lead. I only know 2 songs so far. Stairway to Heaven and Sweet Home Alabama. I love classic rock. My influences are Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Randy Rhoads, and Eric Clapton. What about yourself?
James: Keep trying. Girls love guys who can play the guitar good.

guitarchick,
Right now, I play bass and acoustic guitar, but I'm buying my first electric guitar probably this week sometime. I hope to get a Fender Strat.
I'm a classic rock fan as well. My biggest influences are Hendrix, The Beatles, Clapton, Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, Buddy Guy, The Rolling Stones and Albert King. I'm a big blues fan also as you can probably tell, so I look forward to some sweet blues soloing as soon as I get my Strat. http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/smile.gif

i think it's cool you're learning lead, 'cause a lot of girls just stop at learning chords and whatnot, a girl who can solo can write her own ticket, well anytime a woman can play a male dominated instrument, they can get over , like(the bassist from apc and hole/smashing pumpkins, drummer from kid rock. I'm not trying to sound like a chauvanist but i haven't heard or seen to many women lead guitarist, the only ones i've heard of(you guys may have heard of more) are meridith brooks(she's really good i've heard her shred), bonnie raitt(cool as hell), and the lead guitarist from the bengals. i would like to teach my sister to be a really good guitarist she's 4, maybe in a few years or so i'll have enough knowledge to share and teach her to be a really good guitarist, she already like to hold em and strum em, she has like 4 toy guitars she gets a new one everytime i get one, but she likes to play mine instead. like i say a girl who can throw down on guitar can write her own ticket. it's true, it's true

eek...see, that's the kinda thing I never say anymore to female musicians cause it just gets you in trouble. I genarally follow the rule that if ya wouldn't say it to a guy, don't say it to a girl either. (ie, if this was a guy would you have said "ooh sweet, you're the kinda guy for me")?

Ther are are a lot of female guitar players, just less in the rock field. Sharon Isbn is an incredible classical guitarrist, who would put most shred players to shame. Emily Remler was a great jazz guitarrist. I think because to be successful in rock image is such a big part of the equation, there have been less women that have been able to conform to the hard rocker image. It's true though, its nice to see a girl trying to really get into guitar, I know so many that know like 3 chords who just want to sing, its nice to see somebody who's into it.

No offense to any girl guitarists or anything: In my opinion a woman playing a guitar is very attractive, i've seen a perfect circle live and their base player is a woman, very cool. c-yah.
p.s. props to your guitar playin!
