Steve Vai News...

Steve Vai was just awarded a Doctorate in music by Berkley. Just thought all you Vai fans might like to know. Off the subject, though, what do you guys strive for personally? I strive to be able to "own" the guitar like Vai does. When I hear him play it seems like his mind is somehow connected to his guitar and whatever he wants will come out perfect. I know it will take me my whole life before I can accomplish what I want, but I WILL accomplish my dreams.

That's cool about vai, and as a guitarist i myself want to be able to develope my own "sound" and have people be able to tell my playing from others. I also don't want to fall into the trap of being another copycat type of player.

I want to be able to be technically proficient enough that I can explore the limits of the instrument, as well as be able to write timeless music that speaks to people (including myself) in a profound way.
