Has any one seen or played the line 6 Variax ?

http://www.line6.com

This guitar uses modeling technology to morph from an LP to a strat to a tele at the flick of a foot-pedal, its true !!!! I was thinking about checking out an LP or maybe a tele, however if this beast lives up to the hype, I think Ill get me one of these and save my self lotsa bucks !!!!

If any one has played one of these things Id love to know what they think about it, how it felt, what they played it through and what the limitations were.

(FYI I cant fined an entry in Harmony central either !!)

This all sounds too good to be true which makes me skeptical (ooooh Simon you old cynic) !!!

Love to know what people think about this beast !
Cheers

These guitars are to be released after summer NAMM I think.

This technology is just a bit weird to me, I mean, this'll be like playing a midi-controller. And if you're using a digital amp, you'll be synthesising an already sythesised sound.
So, I'm very sceptical.

Not to mention, these guitars look hideous.

I haven't tried this thing, but I'm sure that nothing can be a replacement for the real thing, and this guitar replicate other sounds by digital modeling ... even if it come close to the real thing, it's sound will be very digital, like a synthesizer.

Also it's not reasonable to have a $1000 guitar to reproduce the sounds of some over $2000 guitars with acceptable quality..

And I agree that it looks horrible.

I guess theres no accounting for some peoples taste, but I don't find this Variax that ugly. Any one ever remember that synth guitar made years ago I think by Yamaha G700 or something like that. Now that was ugly

Don't be pinning that *&%#$$%()$* thing on Yamaha! That 'Road-Warrior-meets-C3PO' double neck contraption was from Roland (Boss).
