You'll want your tone to be warm and bassy. I would also set the gain on your pedal or amp so that you get a crunch, not an oversaturated fuzz.

I had always heard that jimmy hendrix turned everything up on his amp. I also heard he went through alot of heads. But you may just try that, or just turn the gain to crunch and it should be good.
