We all have these moments of profound joy when we realize we have actually improved. Mine was the other day, when my maximum speed went from 16ths at 216 to 16ths at 240. It was very pleasing to see some hard work paying off.
How about you?

Eh? is that (16x240)/60 notes per second? 64 notes per second? That's about double what Malmsteem can play. Are you in the guiness book of records?

I played with my glasses on, and didn"t hit an off note even thought they were fallin off due to excessive sweat...

Erm... 240*4/60 = 16 notes per second. No one can play 60.

Come to think of it, it was also quite hard to master barre chords... or just getting a sound outta the damn thing...

Hmm, maybe not so much a "greatest technical achievement", but definitely something that made me smile was when I realized I was playing the guitar, in stead of 'trying' to play it.(if that makes any sense?)
You know, it's that undefinable moment where you go "gee, this guitar actually feels totally natural in my hands now".
That's when the real fun began.

I understand what you mean...
and I'm not even at the "trying to play" phase yet.
I guess I'd call myself a learner...
What you're talking about is also described with foreign languages (though I am no master at those for sure). For a while you can speak with effort... and at a certain point it just clicks and becomes almost natural to you.

Oh and learning to tune the guitar... And learning to play eruption with only my left hand.... And tapping with my teeth...
Well, at least the tuning part...

my best accomplishment was when i realized that iam the 3rd best guitarist in my school (grade 10, the other two people better than me are sick, this guy pete knows every formula for triads, every scale {not scale pattern}, evry mode and if he listnes to stuff like bozzio levin stevens, he can just pick up a guitar anbd play it.) iam learning all of the modes and scales (available to me through the powers of http://www.guitarsrule.com) and learning every key and its relative. ach now iam just babbling.

The best thing that ever happenned to me while playing live with one of my old bands was the day I met (and later married) the hottie that was sitting at a table drinking some beers near the front stage. we'd been exchanging looks during the set and exchanging smiles. I went up to her later, bought a pitcher of beer for us to share. Turns out she was from Spain and was going to be in town for only 5 more days. I broke my own rule of waiting to call a girl at least 4 days later and called her the next day. We've been together ever since. We've been together for over 5 years now.

Playing classical gas at a 180 tempo, OH YEAH that song needs to be played fast
Also playing the full ode to joy (not the crappy one string version) behind my head =)

Mike... you kick ass.
And my hat goes off to you for managing to actually net a girl who is really from the Mediterranean... I know for a fact that isn't an easy task...
I ended up getting engaged to a girl I met in the high school nurses office. I recall looking at her as she was walking in and thinking "damn, those things are HUGE" (and this was at sixteen... you should see her now) and "that is the most beautiful girl I've seen in my life." Then I thought to myself "oh, just stop looking... there's no way way a girl like that will ever talk to you." And so, of course, she sits down next to me in an empty room and goes, "hey, whatcha drawing?"
I love love stories where the good guy wins.
