Hey, Just wondering whether it is best to put a wah pedal before or after the distortion? Does it make a significant difference?
Thanks Ben

I dont think it does, normally i just put them however i recieve them, if i grab the wha first i put it there or if i grab the distortion it goes. So i really dont think it matters, its all in your favor.

It makes a big difference to the sound - more difference with higher gain.
With the wah first, you get a much less "in your face" effect; the distortion will bring the frequencies that the wah is cutting back up.
With distortion first, you'll hear the full effect of the wah - it's much more pronounced.
Most people seem to prefer wah first (or wah between two overdrives), but you'll have to try both and see what you prefer.

I prefer wah after the distortion....it's way better sounding to my ears. Same goes for the rotovibe but I use that mostly for clean stuff. My digital Ground control is actually the brains behind my sound setting up and controlling the effects chain wich is very complicated to explain here...but anyone who actually does own one knows exactly what I'm talking about.

The order of effects pedals in your chain makes a massive difference to your final sound.
The way I approach this is to try and imagine the final sound I want to create and work back from there. Sometimes I get it right and it sounds cool, sometimes I get it wrong and it sounds cool and new. Sometimes it sounds just bloody awful so I start again and continue until I am happy. Having something at the end of your chain you can plug headphones into sometimes helps !
I think that as there are no rights and wrongs to this subject the best thing to do is to experiment until you find something you like. Remember that setup and continue experimenting !!!
I've tried the wah after the distorion one day by accident and i didn't like it...
most people have their wah-pedals plugged as the first thing after the guitar, I like it that way too..

It's all what you think sounds good...however, I've RARELY seen a wah after anything else in a lineup...
I setup like this:
Volume--Wah--Dist--Dist--Chorus--Delay...I get good results.

The way I have my wah setup is it's pluged straight into the triaxis...then my digital groundcontrol pedal board takes care of the mix line-up. I also have my volume/expression wah plugged directly into the pedalboard so i can bring up or down effects as needed or to be used as just a normal volume wah.
