I recently tore out all of the electronics in my electric guitar and replaced them with fender single coil pickups, pickup selector and tone nobs. But not having the guitar strung, i think it might have messed up the action in the neck, it feels like im playin with TV cable because the strings are so tight and far from the neck. How can I fix this?

A few thoughts....

-Try adjusting the saddles on the tremolo. Most modern strats and teles, you use a little allen wrench; jus twist it a few good ties till it lowers. it's best to do it with the guitar restrung, so that you can tell what height is correct (you'll have to retune it though).

-You may have put on thicker strings than were on initially. I don't have a strat, but my tele is designed to use 9's through 11's without adjustment to the nut. I use 9's on all my guitars since my callouses are built up; lets me rip faster.

-You could try taking it in and getting the grooves in the nut cut down, so that you get lower action. I did this on my SG and my Bo Diddley.
