I'm looking into getting a guitar wall hanger to keep the thing off the floor when I'm not playing it.

Does anyone use the "string swing" hanger? Can I mount it safely into drywall (or do I need to go to Home Depot and get my own drywall anchors)?

Thanks!!

Guitars are pretty heavy. I'd try to mount any sort of hanger apparatus to a stud.

you can definitely get drywall anchors that are rated up to 80 Lbs. I'm thinking the 50 Lb rated anchors are probably ok for a guitar.

(On a side note, there are painting hangers that rate up to and possibly over 150 Lbs - they aren't shaped for guitars though ;))

Well, in that case, go for it. I have heard that that's the best way to store guitars, hanging by the neck like that in a vertical position. I guess it keeps the stress off the joint or something.

yeah... in fact - they give the drywall mounts as part of the package. Here's the response the company gave me directly

"Yes, you can mount to dry wall by starting the hole with the screws that we send along and then use those holes as starter spots for the wall toggles that are also included. Let us know if you have any other questions.

I think I'm going to Daddy's to get one tomorrow! (Now where to hang it...)

Is that even possible?

I still think hanging it on the ground is safest. Or maybe even in the case. All you have to do is make sure your drunk dad doesn't step on it.
