Spanish Scales

Could you tell me some, or the main spanish scale?

Also Major scales have relative minors, does that mean the relative minor is the "minor scale"? I learnt the major scale thinking it was exactly the same as the minor scale, and it is isnt it?

Yes, the relative minor scale is the same as its corresponding major scale. Its the minor scale but it contains the same notes, just in a different orientation.
The only spanish scale that comes to mind (and I dont know if this is even used in spanish music) is the Gypsy scale or Spanish Phrygian scale. Its the fifth mode of the harmonic minor scale.
Its formula goes like this; 1 b2 3 4 5 b6 b7

ie. in knowing the major scale i just have to change the roots and play a mode of the major?

Yup!
Take a C major for excample, and make the following changes.
Lower the second, third, sixth and seventh notes a semi tone.
Theres your C Phrygian Scale.

but you can make spanish sounding stuff using C major, you just have to play like a spanish player. with any scale, be it major or minor or dorian or phrygian or lydian or even mixolydian or locrian, anything, you can get 'the sound' out of it, if you want to.
