What song has the best solo in it ever made?

Hmmm....tough one, I suppose it depends on your tastes, and what your looking for in a good solo. I like a bunch of solos, like Eruption, Voodoo Chile, Little Wing(SRV's, not Hendrix's), Another Brick in the Wall and other stuff like that.

All those solos dominate, but I like Sublime's solo from "What I got". Ha, now I'm just playing being the "hardcore" american girl (once again not really) I would have to say Jim national anthom, but that's not really a solo I don't think. I don't know... what really is a guitar solo *scratches chin* (that's a rhetorical question).

Sublime does have good solos in a lot of their songs. Bradley Nowell is the man.

I can only think of one Solo off the top of my head:

Hans Solo

If memory serves, its Han, not Hans.

I believe that you remember incorrectly cuz I think it's Hans too. But then again I don't like the star wars movies that much.

Check out Lou Reed Live Rock and Roll Animals version of Sweet Jane. The intro solo is one of the best you can hear. Its done by two guitarists who are really in sync.

Come to think of it, the solo in No More Tears is probably my fav, right now at least.

If there's two guitarists, how would that be a solo? Hmm... my fav for the moment is... Bonnie Raitt's solo in love me like a man :D. That song inspired me to learn to play guitar.

I must agree with John Redstone...It is Han Solo.
Then I believe that the best solo ever is one of Randy`s solos, maybe Mr Crowley or Crazy Train...or now that I think about it...Every song on passion and warefare by Steve vai is pretty much a long solo...maybe one of them is the best.

I think the best solo ever has to be a tie between any Metallica, Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, SRV, or some early Dimebag Darrell solos. I think Dime's solos get worse and worse every time a new album comes out.

How could you compare or even tie Metallica with Hendrix. Maybe I'm wrong, but just no.

Actually, a lot of people would say that Hendrix couldn't even be compared to Metallica. Probably a lot of people wouldn't agree, but everyone has their own opinion. I just like them both, and I think they're both good at writing solos that I like just as much as the other's.

for Christs sake! It's ok to compare metallica to hendrix even though they are like apples and oranges. They are both great musicians and are technically equal players.

What it boils down to is oppinions. I hate it when someone gets famouse (especially after they are dead) that it's almost herecy to say anyone is better than that person. Quit being sheep!

Now to contadict myself.......Neither are a pimple on Mozart's, pagainini's, or Segovia's *ssses as for as over musicianship goes. Who cares? Just my oppinion...others will differ and that's what makes life great.

I love so many musicians no mater the genre that it's so hard for me to pinpoint "Who's the best?"

Ya well am I not allowed to have an oppinion?

Jason Becker's Serrana is pretty good. More like a classical piece, though... I think I still stick to Petrucci's Under a Glass moon solo. It's like Hendrix but (imho) better, and with a little bit of insane shredding for those of us who crave that.

I can compare Rhoads to Iommi,to Petrucci to Bb King...it just goes on, I think you could probably link all good muso`s,( probably even Les Claypool to Eric Clapton: a great bassist to a guitar legend)They all must share common ground somewhere.
As to the best solo, try one of Randy Rhoad`s solos

Ive just recently been getting interested in guitar solos again, and I still have to say Eric Bell's solo in "Whisky In The Jar" by Thin Lizzy is my favourite.

Hey! You didn't put "hmmm" in the subject line!

Best solo, eh? How about these:

"Mother" by Pink Floyd
The live version of "Comfortably Numb" on the "Pulse" record by Pink Floyd
"Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen
"No one like you" by Scorpions
"Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd...

Ok, I'll stop now.
