I'm just starting out. I'm 15 and have been working doing odd jobs for the last 2 years to save up enough money to buy a guitar. This man new I was looking for one and he said he used to be the manager for Eric Clapton and he so happened to have a guitar left over from them days that Eric used and it was autographed by him. This guy is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. He said the guitar was worth $5,000, but since I only had $2,000 he would let me have it for that since he liked me. I was going to buy a Les Paul, but he said Squire is better. I guess I got lucky.

Ha!
You are one misinformed guy.
Squires are worth no more than $300 at best, and an autograph of Eric Clapton on it doesnt make it play any better. I hardly believe Eric would play a Squire, anyways. Your getting ripped off, man.

noooo
dont do it
dont dont dont dont dont dont doooo itttt
kill that man
shot him down
first of all unless its a squire from 1970's it doesnt worth so much money
then again even if it is from 1970's for that ammount of money you can buy fender's clapton model OR fender texas special guitar which will give you the blues sound with versatility the squiers dont have

Word of advise. Dont trust businessmen! Don't trust people who are selling you something! God!
You'd have to be 3 years old to have that ignorance, man, c'mon!

Yo, yo, yo, let's be nice... we all start somewhere. Personally, locomotive, I commend you for going out and asking some people in the know before you made one of the worst monetary decisions of your life.
If you've got $2g's to spend on a guitar, then get a high-end, set-neck Epiphone SG or an ESP or something (or an LP studio for that matter, if it's 2 g's), and then get a really nice amp, like a Fender Deville.
Squiers are the laughing stock of the guitar world. They are made mass-market in CHINA, not even Korea, and have pathetically low resonance and really sissy pickups. Not at all worth it. Certainly not 2 grand. Tell him to cram it. A good, top of the line squier is worth like $300 tops.

and i taught Yngwie

You may have started with one, but did you pay 2,000 for it? And Eric Clapton's first guitar was "Blackie," a black strat w/a white pickguard that he still plays onstage, occasionally, for songs with lots of meaning to him (like tears in heaven)

pony who told you Squier is made in China?
PonyOne

Looking on the back of a Squier Bullet. It said MADE IN CHINA on it. From what I understand, although the majority come off the line in Indonesia (like that's soooo much better) a good deal of their subcheap models are Chinese.

I have a Squier and they are pretty good. They come with good pickups.

Squires are excellent beginner guitars because they are cheap, and have a pretty good strat sound, and when you get bored with it, you don't have to worry about selling something you have a grand tied up in. Lets face it most people who pick up the axe are gonna play a few times then go on to something else. You can always upgrade if you decide you wanna be a guitar hero.
