I was just wandering, I can proudly say http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/biggrin.gif(haha!) that I can tab almost anything by just listening the cd over and over again.
And when searching through these "mod lair" pages, I think 70% of the tabbed songs are wrong. So is it possible to do money with writing perfect tabs http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/confused.gif (<--does that work?) Or just earn respect from fellow musicians..?! http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/redface.gif

You can get paid for it, but you have to be hired by someone like Hal Leonard publishing or Guitar World. Go halleonard.com, you might find something.

Well if you wanted to write books you'd have to read standard notation as well. And also, I don't think that's a very rare skill. Or at least, if you're figuring out melodies its not. If you can hear complex chords (pick out the different notes in a bigass altered dominant chord) then you may have something there.
