DROP C AND D TUNING.

Please help me and tell me if i am right or wrong. To get into drop d tuning u play both the 6th and the 4th string at the same time and tune the 6th string down till both strings sound as if they were the same.. is this right?? and does tuning ur strings down half a step (in english not guitar langauage) mean? na d how do i get into drop C tuning???

Actually Dropped D sounds an octave down to 4th string
Dropped C is octave down to C (5th string 3rd position)
Tuning down ur guitar half a step down mens that each string is with a semi tone down -- 1st string -- Eb
2nd -- Bb 3rd-- Gb and so on. To tune you guitar that way tune 1st string to sound the same as 2nd string 4th position and once you tune 1st str that way tune all the others with respect to it. Or you may just use a the gift of civilazation called tunner.

*uhem* Anyway, you're right. To get to drop D, all you have to do is tune your low E string down to D. Play a D note on either your A or D string, and tune your E string down to match.

To get to drop C tuning, you first have to tune your entire guitar down a whole step. The best way to do this is with a tuner. Down a whole step, your strings would be (from low to high) D G C F A D. Once you've got that, tune your low D down another whole step to C.

You can do all this using relatives, but like I said, the best way is with a tuner.

its easy to drop down to D... but C takes a little more work. if you like low tunings you should try detuning just the two top strings to low B (E string) and low E (A string) as oppsed to having to use a 7 string guitar. you can play those strings like a normal standard tuned powerchord.

just go on da top fret and put ya finger on the 7th fret the tune it so it sounds the same as the d string and there u have it, so easy
