Some body sent me an IQ test thing on the web that claims to be scientific, and by the look of it,it is.So I took it.And figured you guys might want to see how you fare.
Here it is:
http://www.emode.com/tests/uiq/authorize/register.jsp?url=/tests/uiq/index.jsp
If you like it,go ahead and try it.Then tell us what you scored. Then we'll all know how we are,so when a gy says a stupid thing, you'll know,ah,that's expected.:D
Don't lie about your score.
Mine was 124.Which sounds right to me.Coz although I've always known I'm an above average guy(average is 100)I'm not waaaay above average.
The report they send you afterwards says I'm a wordking,..

it said i got 135...but i don't really like these things, people believe that they tell the truth when in fact there really isn't any way to measure an IQ. I mean, you can make guesses and see how intelligent a person generally is, but there's no science to it. Most of these internet are full of BS, although this one looked more professional than the ones I've seen. They aren't consistent though. One said i was 117, another said 168, another said 150, and this was 135. i guess i'm all over the map....maybe i was feeling particularly stupid the one day, and bit smarter the other, who knows.

Hey, 162!
My IQ seems to get higher every time I take one
of these tests.
I started with 143 (like a week ago),
then I took some other tests
and now Im at 162.
Well, I have read a book since, and I
watched a documentary yesterday, so

I'm far too lazy to do this. I took one of them a few weeks ago and got 116 (if memory recalls correct, "geniuses" are regularly rated at 120+, and the highest i.q. recorded was 196). BUT, the professionally administered test I took at age 8, I scored 126, and the last one I took, when I was 14, I got 156.
Personally, I don't think that I.Q. tests are too accurate an indicator of someone's intelligence. I've met plenty of brilliant people who got 80's on them. Plus, just because you hae an i.q. of 175 doesn't mean you're a good person, an artistic mind, or a talented musician. Necessarily.

Master Tzu Nechako only reporting 104, but hey questions like if sally drove away from bob and turned 10km when he turned right at five ockock 300 miles, how far away from each other are they? I answer a long ways, do they have cell phones? What shape are the tires in?

These tests don't take into the consideration of all the senses people have, totally skips sound-music, co-ordination, resiliance, learning speed, recovery time, touch, smell, intuition, reaction time, concience, morality, functionality in society, spiritual I.Q., and so much more, yes I studied psychology,...and the hardest part of my studies was remembering how to spell pspspchologie.
An E.Q. (emotional I.Q.-is said to be of greater importance to some, since it demonstrates an individuals ability to function in society)

I think that's not right. I know mine's higher. I've always gotten the highest test scores in my school, 34 on my ACT in every category, national merit finalist, 4.14 GPA...
I think this test isn't all that scientific. It's hard enough to measure someone's IQ with a test, and this one doesn't have enough questions or categories of intelligence to get anything near a complete IQ measurement.
btw, some of my smartest friends are underachieving potheads, whose test scores make them seem dumb, but they're really brilliant :)

thats interresting because i once took a reallife IQ test at a official laboratory (i was applying for a job in the gouvernment *LOL*) resulted in 130 while another test that i did for fun at a friend´s science lab resuled in 132 - so i guess that enode test is quite good.
i have also taken other online IQ tests and they resulted in stupid things like 180 or 89 ..
but since i know the meaning of life those results are of no importance to me *LOL*

due to the fact that i'm very lazy i haven't taken the test yet. although IQ tests do not reflect how smart you. tests never do. i just got a 32 on the act, i guess that means i'm smart. colleges think so, so i guess that's what matters.
i never go by tests. i know people who are considered (by tests) smart, but in reality they're some of the most ignorant people i've talked to. oh well, that's what happens when test making is a major business.

I went to high school with a girl who was purported to have the 9th highest i.q. of anyone under 18 in the USA (I never entered the competition). She seemed to enjoy getting into debates/philosophical conversations with me, and although she could crunch numbers like a machine, in a debate, I would always win. She was nowhere near as good a linguist as me. I could solve puzzles in half the time she could. I could use some piece of information that had no apparent relevance to the situation to further my point (or explain something to her) and it would take her a couple rounds to get it. But by the time I figured out, with the aid of a pencil and paper, what 5x72-3 was, she was off doing her fifteenth trig problem.
And there were kids who were thought of as total idiots who amazed me with their blistering intellects.
As nechako pointed out, and i as well in my post, there is no way to really test exactly how smart someone is. No way to test talent, or how good a person you are, or anything like that. It's nice to have my results behind me when I'm trying to get a job, but I don't think they reflect my true potential or validity as a person.

There are many different types of intelligences . . . creativity, problem-solving, emotional, social, musical, etc.
Many people who would be classified as "smart" in some areas can be dumb as mud in others. A friend of mine in high school was a math and science genius, but when it came to anything else, he had no clue. He could solve the most difficult physics problems, but he had no common sense whatsoever. I know another guy who is brilliant with all the computer science stuff, and yet socially and emotionally, people walk all over him.
Maybe being really smart in one area is a bad thing. Because it seems like people have to compensate for being smart in this one area by being stupid in others. There just aren't enough synapses to go around I guess.

An IQ test will never give an accurate picture of what we are.
It's just that human beings take formality so seriously(let's "get married"-it's just a peice of paper damnit!Read the signature below¯)they have to come up with standards for everything.
And we happen to be obsessed with "science".Especially those of us that don't consider ourselves scientists. So much so that even though we don't really agree to the accuracy or thoroughness(if there's such a word)of these tests as a measure of our person,we wen't ahead and did them. It's so easy to sell any crap that has been "scientifically proven" to be....(It's so hard to argue with that statement).
IQ things are,I think,a bit like horoscopes.I don't really believe in them. But I'm always reading them.

Science is good at telling me how many calories I ingest when I get a microwave meal at work. It's good at keeping my car from blowing up every time I start it, it's good at keeping planes aloft, and it's good at making my guitar play through its amp.
But my brain doesn't need to be plugged in, it doesn't need to have a hooter valve that bleeds of pressure after 22psi, and the WEFT theory has no bearing on my thought process (unless i"m thinking about planes). So how is science any good at telling who I am?
You remember how 100 years ago, by measuring the shape of your skull, they could tell whether you were smart, dumb, had a propensity for math, or were a pedophile? And then they realized how dumb that was, and would determine how smart you were by making you identify random ink blots? Now we know that's a load of crap ad so we have these tests where you answer a few questions, move some shapes, and bam, you know your intelligence. How can you be sure they got it right this time around?
You can use a CT scan to tell the mass of someone's brain, see if there's any damage to it, or even what affect alcohol is having on it, but you can't tell what kind of a person they are from it, what they enjoy doing, or any of that crap.
I've got my science, I've got my God, and I've got myself. They're all intertwined and yet they have nothing to do with eachother.

i agree with ponyone, written tests are no indicator of how good a lingiust some one is... I mean look at politicains, preachers etc etc, they speek well, convince poeple, but they dont necissarly have a high iq.
Collin Powel on the other hand, god bless him, isn't the most well spoken, or sly politicain, or got a slippery tounge, and he always looks awkward, but he has an alledged iq of 180, which is well into the genius bracket.
I get on with poeple, and i'm very very chatty, and i love debates, but i'm much stronger in the written word (even though that iq test said i was a visail mathmaticain), and i'll admit i dont have the widest vocab in the world, but i've pretty much always been creative when i comes to stories, poems, and paintings (i always link the 3)... my poor vocab my have something to do with the fact i grew up bi lingual (and tri lingual at one stage).
Score: 148 visual mathmaticain, (my scores range from 140 to 160), but i dont really take any notice of this, cos it A)doesn't take acount of the fact i'm bilingual B) right brain dominant (left handed) C)have good background maths, so i've had proir knowledge to the maths (in fact ALL background knowledge)..
oh well, hopefully i'll go to uni next year.... hehe, and stop my brain rotting while i sit here spending too much time on the net..heheh

I repeated my third year in campus.Coz I wasn reading.Coz I had no motivation.
You see, when I was in primary school(since our systems are different, primary school here is the one you attend for 8 years, before high school.Maybe in your country it's 7 years or thereabouts. But you get my point)I wprked hard to make it to a good high school(in Kenya, you fight through every step of formal education. It's not free, limited space, etc, etc, basically f***ed up).And I did.In my end of primary school exams,I scored 594 marks out of a possible 700(100 for every subject). In high school, the motivation was to qualify for campus. The pass marks are made high, coz space is limited,so while the basic requirement is an average of a C+,you find that the actual grade needed is at least a B or something.I got a B+ in high school. My granny thinks that I'd have done better if my mom hadn't passed away at the end of my 3rd high school year.I dunno.Anyway,I made it to campus.
Where the bull began.
First off,things are so vague.Theories.Crap.
And people read to pass exams.
Which doesn't move me,coz reading just to pass exams, without learning,is to me a waste of time and money.
I think I'll say this stuff, and more of it,in another thread when I get the time to start it.

I'm sorry to hear that your mother passed away...
I'm 19, and next septemeber... I'll be off to uni... to hopefully eventually become a doctor (and secretly persue my dream of musical recognition, and possibly setting up a music label... but, shhhh, dont tell anyone ;))
I'd better learn all that stuff at uni, or else I wont get a job, or worse... kill someone due to my ignorance....
But yeah, i'm looking forward to uni, it's better than here, cos it's not healthy for me here... I haven't tlaked to anyone out side the family for like a fornight now, and the time before that was maybe 3 or 4 months, but i'm lucky to be in a big family (a family of 7).... So hopefully, my social life will kick into action again, and i'll no longer be the strange one who spent a year with a hope...

In a thread about music lessons, I admitted I had been self-taught for 30 years, and that meant I had been getting my instruction from someone who didn't know squat. Its pretty much the same in any field of study. I think that anyone who is able to teach themselves, would have made much better progress under proper tutelege (sp?).

133, but I definitely think it's a bogus test.
why do I think so? Well... other (not all) tests on this site include (my comments in paren):
Are You a Great Date?
Are You a Material Girl? (Hope not ;))
Are You a Sex God/Goddess?
Are You a Slacker? (It's a way of life...)
Are You a Suave Guy?
Are You Evil? (Define Evil exactly...)
Are You Loony? (Off my rocker)
Are You Sex-Smart?
Are You Sure You're You? (This one I want to take)
Discover Your Past Life (This one too ;))
ETC...
Additionally, I think a number of the questions were ambiguous. For example, the question about the cars was mentioned... they say each driver turned left, but didn't give a P.O.V. - therefore two answers exist: one by pythagorus, the other by inspection.
The test also was not (I believe) timed. The person who completes the test in 2 hours could possibly get all questions correct.
