Hey guys, I'm back from my week long adventure in beautiful British Columbia. Seems like I missed quite a bit... there was a time when you could go away for a week and there would be maybe 10 new threads when you return- there were 90 this time! This board is getting really busy.
Just out of curiosity, Cristoph, how's the collab going?

Hmmm . . . I haven't done anything with it. I got distracted with some other stuff. :o
Either we need more people, or we'll have to work on something else (if you're still willing). I could whip up a simple track for us to just solo over . . . meaning no weird modulations. This one will actually stay in one key for more than one measure . . . lol.
What do you say?

i just got back from the rock and roll hall of fame. it was really cool. they had some Hendrix footage from his Isle of Wight concert. it was also cool to see britney spears's outfit from MTV. i've seen more material go into a guitar strap. they also got some weirdass guitars from billy gibbon's collection.

welcome back james... hope you enjoyed it over there...
I'm kinda intrested in something a little more loose, and kinda biuld the song as it goes along... admittidly, I can tell you from now, it's gonna be a little muddy and murky, but once the arangment has been sorted it can be re-recorded, but this time everyone knows what to do (this is kinda how i work)...
I think to be honest, this is a little difference in musical tastes here as well...

aw, you mean we're not going to get to use my solo? :(
oh well, I wasn't *that* fond of it.
I'd definately be interested in doing something like this again, it was fun.
I'm going to need some time before I start something though because
a) I played only vary sparsely during my trip and have lost a lot of my "chop", so I'll probably need a couple dozen hours to get up to snuff again
b) I'm insanely busy with school work this week- a lot of projects are becoming due in short order
So I figure in maybe a week at the least I'd be ready to start something again. If you want to go ahead with out me then that's cool too, I can catch you on the next one if you want.

oh no, the solo's great... I'm not really playing a part in the cadre backing track thing...
I dont see why we cant have solos on the next tracks... I'd quite welcome some one of your calibir...
I'm just starting to realized I'm much more "folky" than i thought...
But really i'd love to wrok on some thing new, where we'd all pick a key, and write pieces and pass it on... maybe adding to existing parts... I think that might work a bit better, cos that would leave a little more creative freedom...
Edit: I've also re-discovered my intrest in NOISE :D, I've been putting speakers on the bridge, and the neck (And the picks up, but that sounds nasty), a bit like an e-bow, buyt sounds much more dirty, and hissy, and less like a midi... (it's that midi-like sound that i dont like about shredding, it stops sounding like a rawkus-abrassive guitar because it's put through so many noise gates, which i know are practically necisary, because of the "clicking" type sounds when picking, sweeping etc)
Also, my voilin bow can produce some really strange harmonics... it's cool though.

Heh, I'd love to use the solo. You had some ingenious licks in there. However, that would leave a lot of empty space if Ed doesn't want to do vocals. So we'll have to find some more people to contribute, or else we'll have to abandon the project and do something else.
I sorta like the blues/jazz track idea. I'd make a simple blues/jazz track, and we'd all pass it around, adding our own stuff at each turn. I think this was Skee1's idea, but I haven't seen him in a long time. Skee has some awesome blues chops, so that we be a great project if we can get a hold of him.

Yeah that would be a cool idea.

Ok . . . I'll see if I can get a hold of Skee.
