what does it mean in tab when you have notes inside brackets i.e. (5)?
also what does it mean when you have a slash above a note, on top of the bars?

The brackets usually mean that it's a ghost note. (like you slide down to it, or pull off to it)
Slashes can mean a lot of things. It depends on the tab. Usually though, they're used to denote rhythm or muting.

isn't a bracketed note like [7] a harmonic? most tabs ive seen have used brackets to identify harmonics... does anyone know the real answer? lol...
End.

From what I know []'s are for natural harmonics and ()'s are for the ghost notes. I'm pretty sure this is right. Anyone?
