Need some info

Well, I have been playing the guitar for almost 2 years now. I am ok, I can play a lot of songs, mostly metal (metallica, deftones, sabbath, few of van halens, ), some country, some blues, punk, stuff like that. Lately, I've been concentrating more on the acoustic guitar. (I love playing the intro to "year to the day" by van halen)

But anyways, onto my question.

I have no idea about music theory, or even scales.

So if someone could point me in the right direction, or even give me a few tips on basic scales, I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to be able to know some theory.

A similiar question got asked in the music theory forum a wee while back. You'll have to show threads from the last 20 days. The thread is called GOOD SITE? by sadromanticghost. There are some good web sites recommended on music theory and stuff.
