huh ? ya mean ya can play the C major scale and the
C# major scale and the D ..etc ? i would suggest
that ya learn one major scale all over the fretboard.
i teach the G but lots o guys teach C. once ya can
play one scale ( scale is notes not patterns)
where on the fretboard you have already learned all
the modes. it just becomes a question of learning
which mode is which, because the G pattern ya will
play at the 5th fret becomes A dorian..etc.

no river, those are the ones i DO know throughout the entire fretboard. what i meant was im not gonna bother getting caught up in the C# Major Scale, you know? most songs arent in #'s, they are in whole keys, you know?
i know - A major, C major, D major, G major, and im working on F right now.

well , what i was tellin ya .if ya know the C all ya
gotta do is go up one fret n ya got the C# , if ya
know one major scale ya know em all....but if ya can
play one major scale over the entire fretboard, then
ya know all the modes too. theres some real good
info on this stuff in the older theory threads but i
dont remember which ones. look over some o the older
theory threads or go to the theory section. :)

If you already know a scale throughout the entire fretboard then you already know all the modes. Take C for example... play the notes of C major starting at the third fret and you have G mixolodian.
