ive been playing the guitar for about 8 months now and im addicted to finding famous songs and riffs etc that i can learn. I like cool but short riffs best eg i just learnt the main riff from "day tripper" and it sounds pretty cool. Are there any more things i can learn , the more the better :)

Other great rock riffs that always get a reaction are:
-Purple Haze (+Voodoo child?)by Hendrix
-Paranoid (and almost every song ever done by?) by Black Sabbath (Iommi is a riff God!)
-Whole Lotta Love (+ communication breakdown, heartbreaker, good times bad times, how many more times, lemon song, rock and roll?) by Led Zeppelin (Page Rules!)
-You really got me by the Kinks
If you feel like showing off you could try:
-Black Dog by Zeppelin
-Layla by Derek and the Dominoes (Eric Clapton)
-Reelin' in the years (the cool bit before the solos) by Steely Dan

Take it your not quite ready for Van Halen's Erruption then?
The intro to Sweet Child o Mine is really, really easy, but it sounds cool.
I learned how to bend playin along with Lenny Kravitz Are You Gunna Go My Way, it's a pretty simple structured song but it still rocks.

The reelin in the years intro and even the outro leads are out there aren't they....I think they are so cool. I would have never thought of some of those notes...but then again most of Steely Dan's music seems to be over my head, Josie is a great one to jam on though...you gotta give those two,
Becker and Fagen credit. Incredible scores and heck, check out their choices of guitar players over the years...even had Will Lee doing bass on Chain lightning. And let's not forget the Skunk.
As far as easy songs to rock out...try early Aerosmith...
Train kept a rollin'
Walking the dog
Mamakin
and even dream on is fairly easy....
Sure was some good old simple rock and roll....
we had more fun playing and playing with these songs.
