it looks like more than just tuning.

Ok, please forgive this if it's a bit basic for you,but in these situations i'd check

1.) The intonation- see here for how to do it

http://www.o-ma.com/hog/techtips.html#1

2.) That the string isn't wrapping back around itself and slipping.

If these are ok and she still does it, come on back..

cheers.

Some guitars are worse than others. A fella named Buzz Feiten (http://www.buzzfeiten.com/) has come up with a way to retrofit old guitars, or build new ones that tune correctly. Check it out.

but, i believe it's quite expensive.

Earvana - similar principle of minute/small scale length changes-seem to have a good rep, with their nuts being reasonably priced ($25) - plus if you screw up instalation(sp) you have the option of being able to buy a either the top or bottom part separately.

http://www.earvana.com/ - they give fairly detailed instructions for fiiting as well.

I must say i have not tried either but may go for an earvana nut on my tele copy later in the year as she needs a new one anyway.

this could be a problem where the well temperated tuning comes into play...

Most classical guitarists tune the G sting SLIGHTLY (less than one quater step) lower as indicated by the tuner. Try it - maybe it solves the problem.
