Hey everyone :-)

I'm Michael, 30, from East London, in the United Kingdom and I recently purchased a beginner's electric Elevation Guitar. My inspiration for doing something really wyld and expressing my passion for music is inspired by heavy-metal and rock.

My favourite bands are Rammstein, Disturbed, Iron Maiden, Oomph, Bullet From a Valentine and Tenacious D. I love listening to pure Rifts, by guitarists like Orianthi, I pump the volume whenever listening and I dream of rocking like them!

Axeman81 is my old, online-gaming handle and I thought it excellent in making the transition to representing myself here!

I look forward to meeting you all :-)

Oh, that's brill :D

Hi Carmine, gr8 to meet you :)

How long have you been a Guitar Tricks member? I joined in October and upgraded to full-membership. I actually live in the south/south-east london area.

It's excellent to know I'm not alone, in my neck of the woods :)

I'm having a little guitar trouble at the moment. My strings keep snapping and any advice on how to get them seen too would be appreciated.

Thanks for posting. Axe.

Hi axeman81
I have been here on and off since February 2009. I visited many releted guitar web sites and by far GT is the best. I could give you some suggestions about your problem however as a full member why you do not post a message to Steve White, to GT in-house Guitar Technician? http://www.guitartricks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30

Welcome to the site! Great influences :)

Snapping too many strings can be caused by many different things.

Here are a few:
• The bridge of the guitar can have sharp edges
• The angle where the string goes over the bridge can be too steep
• Your picking technique may be a bit too violent :D
• Your pick may be a bit too thick
• Strings are too thin (shouldn't be a problem though)

I used to have big problems with snapping strings, a few high E strings every week. I refined my picking technique, installed a graphite bridge on my strat, strung my Les Paul backwards, and now I never break strings. :)

Hi Ben

Thanks for gracing my post with your presence - I'm not worthy lol :D

Carmine, I found a guitar shop near Oxford Circus with a gr8 repair studio and the owner is willing to give me a free appraisal :)

Ben, I have taken your advice on-board and will mention your ideas when I meet him next Wednesday.

I definitely plan to utilise all benefits of being a GT member, so will definitely seek the guidance of the tech-masters!

Thanks again and happy new year to every1 at Guitar Tricks!
