im trying to find a easy? way to introduce myself to fingerstyle (a la Lyle Lovett)
any easy fingerstyle tunes or tabs anyone knows of to start off on?

Have you tried Le Bourree (bach), Moonlight Sonata (beethoven), or Dust in the Wind (Kansas)? Those are some fingerstyle pieces that you may like to try. The Kansas one is the easiest and then probably Moonlight Sonata is the hardest of those three. Another thing you can try is to play music by Jim Croce, he has some really good fingerstyle pieces.

yo, and also try some of this guys tabs he has about a million and that person i'm talking about is the great James Taylor he is very good and is a finger-picker.

The intro to "what if" by creed is pretty sweet and the song "with arms wide open" by them would be a good start to fingerpicking. Another fairly easy fingerpicking thing is the intro to the song "black star" by yngwie. just some suggestions.

For those who are familiar with it, Vincent's Theme from FF7 and Ultimacia's Theme from FF8 are great ballads to fingerpick, though the first one is more difficult. I can tab them if you want and send the midi files as well.
