Johnny Cash?

It appears that Johnny Cash seems to have a unique strumming pattern, maybe he bass strums it? i dont know. Can any one help for songs like Boy named sue and i walk the line etc.

Its not a strumming thing your really muteing with
your right hand then picking the 3 lowest notes of each
chord then useing a gallop style.

Say if your useing the open position of the E chord
you would mute the E A D strings with your right hand then pick useing a down stroke on the E string skip the A string
then use a down&up stroke on the D string then
go to the A string and use a down stroke then repeat
the down&up on the D string then give the E string a
down stroke then just keep repeating the obove.
like ->Da dit dit Da dit dit Da <repeat

Hope this helps this is what his lead guitarist's played
not J cash he just strummed the chords with-out muting.
