Open D sharp tuning

I found a Goo Goo Dolls song tabbed out and it show the tuning as Open D #. I have tried tuning to open D and then capo the 1st fret. It does not sound right. What am I doing wrong?

if you're talking about black balloon the tuning is D#-G#-D#-G#-D#-D#. you have to tune it to that, the remarkable thing about johhny rzeznik is that he makes up a lot of his own tunings so if you're trying to find it in a tuning book or chart you probally wont.
