ok, i am posting this to help out the people that have no clue what artificial harmonics are and for people that know what they are but just don't know how to use them. So come on in and chip in anything i missed that would make it easier for a beginner.

To use artificial harmonics you have to be holding the pick right. if you don't hold it the way i will tell you the harmonics won't work. Grasp the pick with your index finger and your thumb so that the pick is at an angle. Preferably a backward angle towards you. Pick a fret and press on it like you normally would. Take the pick and kind of swipe it sideways and downward. You should get a kind of squeeling sound. The more you do it the better you get at it.

Practice Makes Perfect!

Hey man you can hold the pick in many different ways. There are also different artificial harmonics than the one you described.

To all guitarplayers out there... there isn't a technique that fits all. You've got to find your own.

theres loads of ways to do this..

2 of the easiest are..

let the fleshy bit of your thumg drag over the string after the plec has stuck it.. add some OD to this.. nice Billy Gibbons sound.

or hit a note like normal then using your plec hand.. place your finger lightly over another fret. again this works well with a bit of OD/fuzz/dist
