USE OF SLIDE TO CHANGE POSITION

I wd like to know how exactly to change from 1 position to another using slide. If I play a lick, picking the E string at the 5th fret, is it possible to slide from there to the 7th fret, to pick the string there, without making it sound like a slide. Shd I palm mute the string, when I slide?

Well, don't slide up the string, just try to put your finger without sliding on the string. Lift it.
