Hate to say it, but there is nothing going on in the studio with Van Halen. Words got mixed up down the chain and someone misunderstood something. Something about renewing licenses for songs. They aren't working on anything though.

VH was my first ever concert (Diver Down). Imo, their music began to slide downward after that album. Then...with Hagar taking over I never was a fan again of VH. Just didn't like that combo.

I wish sometimes bands would leave the past in the past. I don't think many bands can re-create the magic. I feel this way about The Doors (WTF is that?) and INXS (ok..Hutchence is dead...don't keep on without him because it is just not the same).

I hope it's true. I'm sure it will be a good album!

"cautiously", I agree.

I noticed from those songs they did in the 90s that Eddie plays more dangerously when Dave's singin'. I'd like to hear some more of that.

They should spit one more out while they still can.

I've heard rumor on why their sound changed so much when Dave Left. What I heard was that Dave was always on Eddie about what he was playing. Dave would dismiss some of the things Eddie would come up with and kept him leaning towards harder rock. Enter Sammy. Sammy didn't have the clout that Dave had which allowed Eddie to be much more experimental. Not sure how accurate this to be, just posting what I had been told. The story seems to fit the reality of their change in music.

I never faulted Sammy for the change in Van Halen's sound. Always felt he was a perfect replacement for Dave. But, there clearly is two Van Halens.
