feedback question

i have a question about my setup. when i am on the overdrive channel on my amp, i get a high pitched squeaky feedback, and i was wondering if this could be due to my pickups. i play a prs ce 22 through a marshall jcm 800 head with a 300 watt 4x12 marshall slant cab if that makes any difference. i realize that the problem might be that i have the gain turned too high, but is there any way to fix this problem while keeping the gain where it is and without a noise gate? any help would be appreciated. thanks!

you're going to get feedback anytime the sound from the speaker(s) cause the pickups (or the strings) to vibrate. You can reduce this by: standing further away from the amp. packing some pieces of foam or cloth around the pickups. turning something down.
