i've been *asked* to play guitar for a band who lost their guitarist. i have been playing for almost a year now but i'm not very good. they must have a different opinion because they aren't letting me say no without jamming with them first.
i want to play with them, i just don't think i'm good enough. i have less than a week until our jam. i've been practicing simple popular songs that i think they might cover or know (they do mostly original). i've also been working on chords chords and more chords.
they play mostly in the style of heart & pat benetar apparently... not my favorite music, but i just want to play with people for the experience...
any suggestions of songs or exercises that will give me a great deal of help in little time?
thanks!

Just ask them some of their songs, pr listen to a tape they might have made... Also, don't stress too much, there's no use, you're not auditioning for David Lee roth's band!!

Don't stress over it... Your getting a jam session for doing nothing... If you dont make it in there's no harm done... If you get in then great...
It might not be a good idea if they're seriouse about their style and you hate that music and just wanna jam...

Do your thing and have a good time. If it doesn't work out then so what? You're where you are now. If it works, then cool: You'll learn from them, they'll learn from you, and you're all better off. If not, then you're still where you are now plus an audition, so you're in better shape for your next audition than you are now.
