I have always wanted to learn guitar. My wife bought me this starter pack for Christmas and I was wondering what anyones opinions are on it. Is it a good set up to start with? any advice for the biggest novice you ever saw? lol

Thanks in advance!~

13/13 5 star reviews. Can't be a bad guitar, can it? ;) Acoustics can also get good set ups. As advised on the Maestro, take it to a tech and see what they have to say.

In my opinion, people can be too hung up on brands and types of guitar. If it feels good to play and meets the need, then it's a good guitar. One of my fave axes is still a $75 Squier I got off Ebay.

nice thanks for the response. I'm really about as novice as you can get.

I have a Yamaha F335 Acoustic and love it. Like Razbo said take it to a tech at your local Guitar Center and have them look it over. I hope you get years of satisfaction with it.

Have a safe and enjoyable New Years.

I really feel those Yamaha acoustics are great instruments. They hold up well and are a great guitar for anyone at any level. Like previously mentioned, make sure and take it to the local music store/guitar tech to have a proper set-up done and a re-string wouldn't hurt to have done as well.

Sounds like you got a great present. Best of luck!

Hi Deacon,

Yamaha's are among my favorite beginner guitars. They are sturdy, well-designed guitars.

Congratulations, and enjoy! Keep us posted -

Best wishes, Lisa

Yamaha makes good beginner stuff. The guitar you have has a solid top which is a really good thing. I sold a lot of these packages when I worked at Guitar Center for 4.5 years and I was never worried that someone would return them.

Good Stuff until you find out what you would really like in a year or 2.

You'll probably figure out what you really like sooner than that. :) It's the disease of the musician also know as Gear Whoreitus.
