What is, in your opinion, the absolutely best guitar that can be bought for $350 and under?

I reckon it's best to get as simple a guitar as possible. Say one with a normal bridge as opposed to a floyd rose-esque one. This usually means the makers can spend a bit more on wood, pickups etc.
In terms of actual guitars it's hard to knock Squires. However http://www.musicyo.com does have guitars for that price that are worth considerabley more.
