Hi All, have just decided to learn guitar @ the old age of 40...(maybe a midlife thingy...cheaper than a motor bike)
im a left hander so decent gear is a bit harder to come by...i dont want to spend too much until im into it ...i have been offered a mint Les Paul Standard (korean model which im told is better than the chinese model true or false??)
£170......im into jazz funk & and maybe a bit of oasis....most of the reviews seem to rate this guitar highly ....any you guys or galls out there got 1 or had 1 .....please let me know what you think.....
cheers

Hi,

Best advice I ever got was to keep my guitar, whatever it was, in plain view. It will keep it available to play all the time. Next bit of best advice I ever got was to not give up. Sometimes it can take me a week to a month to put together only a few measures. Its getting faster though.

As for equipment as long as you've got something decent to play you should be just fine. I've only got an acoustic presently and decided that before I bought another I'd dedicate myself to learning several solid pieces before branching out with new equip, doesn't mean I don't spend plenty of time looking though.

Cheers!

I'm a constant "window shopper"! :) mbrown makes a couple of good points, in particular, keeping your guitar in plain view. I keep one in every space I frequent. Even a cheapie out in the workshop; all those 10 minute sessions when I am having a smoke add up!

'Fraid I have no input on your LP as I do not own one. Mint is mint, Gibson is Gibson. If it's a good price, you can't really go wrong.

well I can tell you i have started to play at 46 years..and love every single bit of it..it can take alot of time to learn something, but if you REALLY want to learn you will give yourself the time it takes..as for a guitar I must have 30 in the house..and the on I chose for me is a gitano..it is not a popular make but I love it..you have to go with want feels right for you..I would not change my Gitano..the feel of a guitar will tell you if it is right for you..don't give up on playing, it took me a year befour I can really say I am not bad..GOOD LUCK
