First off I can't tell you how happy I am that this site exists. To all those responsible, and to all of the instructors, thank you very much.

I am 36 years old. I have wanted to play guitar since I was a kid. Life got in the way and my desire was filed in the back of my brain somewhere. It wasn't until my 6 year old daughter started showing interest herslef that I decided it was time to get some gear and do what I had wanted to do for so long. Well, here I am. I bought a Dean Vendetta and a Line 6 Spider III 15 watt amp to get started. For the time being everything feels extremely foreign and my hands aren't sure what they are being asked to do. All in good time I'm sure.

I'm looking forward to the journey and the day when I can actually play something that sounds good. :-)

Welcome aboard Michael!

Tis a great website to be a part of. I'm a newbie as well, and this site has been a HUGE help. Check out...

for a GREAT exercise that I found to be invaluable and is now a part of my daily routine. It really helped to get the fingers working together. (Thanks again for that one Lisa!!!)

Cheers!

Thanks Dazoo. Funny you mention that tutorial. I came across it earlier today and have been spider legging all afternoon off and on. Great exercise for sure.

Welcome to this amazing journey! Best advice I can offer; fall in love with the process and always be a fan first. The more you inspire yourself, the more rewarding the process becomes. If you want an introduction to some easy scales to play, check out my tutorial on Major Pentatonics;
