Flowchart for starting out.

Is there a flowchart available on what to do and what not to do when starting out? Like type of guitar, etc.

It's kind of subjective. Definitely Guitar Fundamentals 1 is the place to begin.

Type of guitar depends on what you plan to play (classical, folk, blues, rock, country...) and possibly your practicing environment (quietly 'cause of the dang neighbours, or crank it to 11). Were you thinking of Electric or Acoustic?

I was thinking acoustic. Would practicing on an electric guitar and having it routed to a set of headphones work? (I know I'll be terrible at the start, I don't want to put anyone else through the agony) :)

Anyone know if it's possible to rig it up to a Mac? I'd like to make the most of Garageband but I'm not sure where to start. :(
