I was just wondering.

How many of you are career guitar player? By this I mean someone who dedicate most of her or his time to guitar playing. (Session musician, fulltime band member,etc...)

And how many of you are like me, just playing guitar as a hobby?

You can list me as a hobby player. I haven't 'played for pay' since 1971.

Which reminds me of an incedent at a biker rally I was at last year. A guy was thumping away on an acoustic guitar, and his girlfriend warned the people gathering 'round, that she didn't want any 'amateurs' messing up his axe. He was having trouble with "Tangerine", and after I had whispered a few of the chord changes to him, he shrugged and handed me the guitar.

I did Tangerine, followed by "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You", quickly retuned to an open D, and laid out "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" and "That's The Way". As I handed the guitar (still tuned in open D) back to the guy, I turned to his open-mouthed girlfriend and explained that I had hadn't been a professional musician since 1971, "Which means I've been a f***in' amateur for thirty years!"

Make my money off of a conglomerant of computer know nots at the office and my sanity off of six strings and digital recording at home. (32 years in the making)

nice scam. but i'd rather sit around and play guitar ALL day.

its hobby for me too goin too uni. and all that
i have a band but its not full time nad actually it cant be artists here can barely make a livin as ond of them said: "for us music is not a job every one of us has another job there are barmans, and doormans and other stuff like that"
