What is the easiest way to learn scales?
I know this is probably a dumb question
but I really like to learn how to play
guitar and I was told I needed to
learn how to play scales. Thanks for
any response.

take the scale you need to learn, and practice it to a metronome, up the scale, down the scale...
Then try another position of this scale, do the same thing
When you know those two position, try playing licks using both (sliding from one position to another) there are lots of different ways of learning scales, that's one of them...
You should start with the pentatonic minor scale, since it is theone that's used the most in our music...

well, that's all it takes!! That's the 'not so fun' part of the learning process, then you have to connect the dots and make music!!

Give this link a try... I started using it about a month ago and found that it totally cleared things up for me

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaster yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! That's actually fun, but not when you start, when you can work around the scale, it's cool...
