Thinking of buying Lexicon Omega...

Hello, I am thinking of buying the lexicon omega to get some basic tracks down before I head into the studio for some serious, and expensive recording time. Has anyone here heard good or bad about this system? Or is there a better system out there at about the same price? Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanx
