View Full Version : Finger Problems
I pulled the muscle in my 4th finger a while ago and now its stayed puffed up (my other fingers are larger on the same hand as well) and i dunno if its the calisis or what that have made my finger larger?.
It hurts time to time when i have a serious session, mainly whe i try and do my hammerones and pulloffs.

Yeah, that could be a problem
I cut my nail too much, once, and I couldn't play for week, especially hammerons and pullofs.
Take care

As with any injury, you have to give it a chance to heal. If you keep on playing anyway, it isn't likely to heal properly, and it may get worse.
Think long-term. Take a break.

It's better not to play for 2 weeks than never play the same again.
I crushed my hand not too long ago at work. Nothing serious, but I waited a week before playing and had to stop for another week cause my hand felt tight. It didn't hurt but I wasn't gonna take the chance.
Now everything is back to normal. Give yourself time to heal.

Go to a sports injury clinic that specializes in that sort of stuff. I've seen a couple where they advertise care for both sports and musicians injuries.

I've heard that guitarists have the same problem that tennis player have, forearm tendinitis, also known as "tennis elbow"

I don't know if it's the same in the U.S. but in Canada, going to a doctor for anything more than a head cold is a waste of time. All the doctor does is keep you sitting around in the waiting room for an hour only to be told that you need to see a specialist. Then you have to go through the whole process of making another appointment and sitting around in another waiting room.
Whenever I have something wrong that's going to need xrays or anything above getting my blood pressure taken, I make the appointment with the specialist to begin with and save myself a wasted trip.

yeah that is one gross injury. i'd recommend going to a sports doctor, normal physicians would be like "Well...you got a disoriented flamented seclamented heliumlike tublical veinicle in your arterry called ashcupedburg therefore you must see a specialist" ( made most of that up:) but thats how some are like) ya know they could have just said "its swelled up see a specialist" and would save u an hour or 2 of your time. go to a specialist...
