Can anyone recemend a good set of strings? I went though 3 packs of Earnie Ball's this month. Granted I play fast and beat the strings. I just keep bracking my low E&A strings by the bridge. I sanded down my bridge so it wasn't so sharp, but it still broke my strings. http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/frown.gif Maybe is it my string gauge? I ordered 10-48 & 9-42 on accident. I play 11-51 most of the time...

P.s. This is OldSkoolPunk I had to format my hard drive. So I lost everything so I had to create OldSkoolPunk02 Laterz

Hey, what you need to try is a set of D'Addario's. They're pretty good. and if you can afford it, Elixers are the best out there. They'll last for as long as u let them. (usually many months at least).

EEEERERRERRERE Now Im pissed... I just broke my low A string. I have no more strings and Im broke.. http://www.guitarforums.com/gtubb/frown.gif Damnit... lol Well Earnie Ball was my fav I just broke 3 low E and 3 Low A in a month... Now I can't play... Maybe it's just me I play like 3-5 hours a day, and I mean I hit the strings hard with Gator Grip 1.5mm picks. But damn is it me or did I just get 3 faulty packs in a row, from two differnt places? Life sucks when your broke. Oh well at least my grandma sent me money for my b-day. She suggested I use it to come see her.. I don't think so. I must get strings.. LOL This sucks Im liked addicted to playing guitar.. I get all mad and grumpy when I can't play.. But in 4 months from playing 24-7 like I have.. I have gotten so much better. Now Im like in the habbit of playing all the time..

Is it just me or does life suck? Maybe I suck and it just life? We shall never know...

strings breaking at the bridge end???

try what SRV's tech did for him.. slip some of the insulation sleeve off some copper wire over that end of the string.. (does that make sense??)

the plastic sleeve protects the string a bit untill it bits through.

SRV was know for using heavy gauge strings a frightenly high altitude action and whacking the fek out of his guitar, let alone the strings.

I don't get the insulation thing - wouldn't that just trash your sustain? And even if it does end up biting through, won't it eventually find the burr that's breaking that string?

Hey, I use D'Addario 11 Gauge strings and they hold up pretty well, I play hardcore/metal etc. So I hit the strings hard a lot, I usually only break E and A string.. But its kinda rare, perhaps you should try a different brand of string, or maybe completely change the bridge or saddles. I did that on my first guitar and it did the trick.

Graphite saddles seem to help for me anyway. But I still break alot of strings. Hell, I just broke the D string on my bass playing an open mic last week. Sometimes it just comes down to bad luck.
