I just recently found this site myself, and I think it's great, why no one told us? I think it may be one of those govt conspiracies, involving Roswell, aliens, Area 51 and x-files episode #3, well have to go, some men in black are at the front door, please deny you ever saw this post

Not at all. I can't stand the stuff myself. All it seems to be is a bunch of scales and sweep patterns played as fast as possible.
If it had any 'shred' :D of soul or feeling in it then it'd be worth listening to but most of them don't seem to have a clue how to emotionally move a listener.

Shred is pushing away the bounderies, it includes speed, but it has other things. Allan HOLDSWORTH is a shredder, and he has pushed the limits of modern composing.
You aren't moved by shred, but it isn't its purpose!! Consider it as a quest for new things (of course, when you see that 95 percent of shredders play the same riffs and licks, it gets boring, but once in a while you find a truly innovative guy, and then, it's really cool and those guys are the true shredders, others are just wannabes)

I'm not much for the shredding style either. Can you sing to it...not that I've seen. I much more prefer the slow stuff Bill and Ted saw when they went to see Rufus or Rufius.
