which brand or type of strings are good?

I used to play only ernie ball super slinky ones, and I've used flat wound ones for some time
I now use any stuff that won't break under my bends... Haven't found a consistent one though...
Also, for my steinberger, I use double ball strings, they are cool, because when you change them, you don't have to wait for a long time so they stay in tune...

Check out http://www.daddario.com/ for advice on the different kinds of strings available. The choice of materials, and especially the type of winding, can make big differences in the kind of sound you get.

ernies give you te punch and harmonics d'addarios gives you a smmoth feel and sustain so i use both of them(not on the same guitar hehe)

When I bought my first guitar it had like 6 different types of strings on it. Any set of strings seems nice to me now because of it. What I usually do for practice stings, because I love variety, is to just buy whatever the shop has the most of or just wants to sell.

Of course, for gigs I use daddario, medium gauge in order to keep the same sound from gig to gig.

I used to use Dean Markley consistently. But the dang ball keeps slippin' off.. Had to switch back to slinky's.. Also have gotten back to using regulars rather than supers... I think they sound better, and I somehow think I play better when I struggle and fight to get the sound out.. I also played a friend's guitar the other day that had flat wounds on it.. I was transported back to a time(1970)when we all played those things.. I am going to string my '58 silvertone with the flat wounds, and play some blues... They are also GREAT for slide...

I've found that Elixir strings are by far the best brand I've ever played. They have some patented gore-tex coating that almost eliminates all squeaks and makes for a much smoother and cleaner feel. The only thing I have against them is that after a lot of play the coating can peel away. Anyways, after playing them I've never gone back to conventional strings. They are a bit pricey, my set of lights cost me 18.00 Canadian. I have only ever bought them for my acoustic, but I would imagine that they make them for electric guitars also.

Elixer strings...Ive heard a lot about them but never bothered to try them becuase of the price. Personally I didnt know that they made anything but electric strings.

anything that makes 9's. i can't tell the difference between makes but i always use 9-42 gauge as u can bend them for miles!
