wondering which guitar magazine you guys like the best and why.

I'm currently subscribe to Guitar World (I'm not renewing), and for my tastes it sucks. I got a lot of back issues of Guitar Player from my school library (and am getting a subscription soon) and it rocks. The difference seems to be that Guitar World features more interviews with artists, more info on upcoming records, and caters to the new generation of guitar players (tablature for songs by bands such as Weezer, Papa Roach, even saw that rap song "When I Got High"). Guitar Player is more of magazine for those SERIOUS in learning... meaning awesome lessons... they have great lessons featuring more complicated topics including theory and technique, as opposed to Guitar World "lessons" that feature Papa Roach's Jerry Horton with his own column explain how to play "Infest".
What do you guys think? What mags do you like, what do you subscribe to, what do you look for in a mag?

I actually prefer Guitar One. They have decent lessons as well as some licks from songs from every decade. The aricles are decent too. It is made by the same people who make Guitar World

All of the guitar magazines that are out today are pretty generic in my opinion. Each magazine republishes music from their earlier issues which is a real copout.

James, since you're living in Canada, I recommend that you add Canadian Musician to your reading list.

This mag covers all aspects of the music industry in Canada, with columns written specifically for players of many kinds of instruments. Its a very good source of information on the business and technical aspects of making music.

You'd be surprised how much of the material intended for other players has relevance for guitar players. An article for bass players on 'building the groove' can be a big help to a rhythm player, for instance.

Check it out.

Guitar one totally kicks ass its got all **** from different Decades like Mai Zure said. They allways have something different in there all the time and a whole range of different transcribed songs. They got reveiews on new gear thats just entered the market, A good run down on whats happening in the guitar world, a good understanding of brands and there products etc
I give Guitar one 9 and a 1/2 outta 10 i say
i'd give them another 1/2 if there where some good chicks in there ahaha jk :D

Total Guitar, I don't know if it's published in the USA, you get a great bunch of tab evry month and backing tracks to boot, the backing tracks are great when your friends come round cos it always turns into a drunklen Karaoke session

I used to buy Guitar One but I don't buy any magazines anymore. It costs too much money, not enough of what I wanted was included in those magazines.
